You're looking into a boudoir session and you want to know what to wear. But especially, you want to know the best boudoir outfit for your body type!
THE BEST OUTFIT FOR YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION
In my experience, most women don't have this piece in their lingerie drawer yet, but it's still my go to outfit for a beautiful boudoir session! I'm talking about a bodysuit or teddy (they mean the same thing, but can be found under either).
BODYSUIT/TEDDY
My favorite outfit for boudoir photography is a bodysuit or teddy for so many reasons. If you've never worn one before I 100% recommend you try one for your boudoir session!
BODYSUITS AND TEDDYS ARE FLATTERING FOR EVERY BODY TYPE
Bodysuits and teddies are fitted which enhances your natural shape without making you look larger than you are (which can happen with flowy lingerie).
Check it out. Every body type looks great in teddies.
BODYSUITS AND TEDDYS COME IN SO MUCH VARIETY
I'm constantly amazed at the variety of bodysuits that are available. They can be really incredible and unique pieces that flatter your body shape.
Lacy bodysuits
These are incredible feminine options that photograph beautifully and feel soft and elegant! These are everywhere. Some of my favorite places to look for these lacy bodysuits are Victoria's Secret, Cotonhouse, Adore Me, Lulus, Bare Necessities, and even Amazon!
Strappy bodysuits/teddys
These are a bit edgier options. They can look really neat paired with a leather jacket! If you like the strappy look, I'd start by checking out Victoria's Secret and Adore Me.
Sheer bodysuits/teddys
Sheer mesh is used in a lot of different bodysuits. It can be very flattering. When paired with some lace, it's a really beautiful and interesting option for your boudoir session. Again, I'd start by checking out Victoria's Secret and Adore Me.
Opaque bodysuits/teddys
If you want maximum coverage across your torso and stomach, I recommend you check out Pinsy! I've photographed clients in these before and they are incredibly flattering! Pinsy's bodysuits are technically shapeware, but they're soooo pretty!
See what I mean? (see below!)
Supportive bodysuits/teddys
If you're a curvy gal, I recommend checking out Lane Bryant or Torrid for bodysuits that are built with support for the girls!
Check out this Lace Cap-Sleeve Bodysuit by Lane Bryant (pictured below).
Artistic bodysuits/teddys
If you want something more unique, there are plenty of options here! My favorite place to shop for really unique bodysuits is Thistle and Spire! I love their Dracona Bodysuit (pictured below).
BODYSUITS AND TEDDYS OFFER A LOT OF FLEXIBILITY
I love that bodysuits make great bass layers. You can add in a robe, a button down, a sweater, a jacket, or any number of other things over the top of the bodysuit for some added variety.
THERE ARE A FEW THINGS TO LOOK FOR WHEN YOU'RE SHOPPING FOR YOUR BODYSUIT/TEDDY
Pay attention to the level of coverage a bodysuit offers and make sure it matches your expectations and wishes. If it's sheer in the bust and you wish it weren't, check out nippies as an easy solution!
Pay attention to whether it provides support for your bust (and whether you want it to!). If you're bustier, this may be a bigger consideration for you while you're shopping!
Keep an eye on the bottoms. If you want the most flattering cut for booty photos, look for something with cheeky coverage - or if you're feeling confident, a thong.
Pay attention to whether it's crotchless or not. If it is a crotchless bodysuit, I would look for a different option!
