So you took the plunge. You booked the bridal boudoir photo session. You're ready to give your man a gift he'll never forget...but now what?
HOW SHOULD YOU PREPARE FOR YOUR BRIDAL BOUDOIR SESSION?
MANI-PEDI
A mani-pedi is 100% optional for your boudoir session. However, it can be a great way to relax and pamper yourself leading up to your session while also giving you a polished look during your session. In bridal boudoir photography, I always make sure to incorporate your ring into some photos. Do you want your nails to be done or natural? Make the choice that feels right to you!
HYDRATE
Drink that water my friend! It'll help your skin achieve that beautiful glow we all want in our boudoir photos.
SKIN CARE
Girl, wash your face. Do your skin care routine. Take care of your body and your body will take care of you.
WHAT ABOUT A SPRAY TAN?
In general, I don't really recommend you get a spray tan before your session. It's just not necessary. However, if you really want to you can. The biggest thing is to be sure you get a good one that doesn't leave you splotchy right before your session!
WHAT TO WEAR TO YOUR SESSION
Come to your session with a bare face and clean hair. Your makeup artist will take care of the rest!
Come in loose clothing that won't leave indents in your skin right before it's about to be photographed!
It can also be a good idea to wear a button down so you don't have to worry about messing with your hair and makeup when you change into your first bridal outfit!
WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING TO YOUR BRIDAL BOUDOIR SESSION?
The short answer is that it's totally up to you. It is, after all, your party! However, if you want some ideas and inspiration, I've compiled a comprehensive list of items you may want to bring to your bridal boudoir photography session!
WHITE BRIDAL LINGERIE
This is the obvious one, I admit. There are, however, a couple things to consider while you're shopping.
Lace looks beautiful, soft, elegant, feminine, all of the above. Bodysuits flatter every body type and photograph incredibly well. Bra and panty sets can be a great option as well. You could even look for a white lingerie dress.
I recommend looking for a cheeky cut (ideally with lace) for your bodysuit or underwear.
I recommend avoiding baby doll nightgowns as these aren't overly flattering in photographs.
ROBE
If you have a getting ready robe for your wedding day, this can be a fun item to bring to your bridal boudoir session. If not, you could get a sheer white lacy robe to pair with your lingerie. You can go for a short robe or even a full length robe.
BRIDAL VEIL & GARTER
A veil and a garter are very classic bridal items that look so stunning and timeless when incorporated in boudoir photography. You only get to wear them once...why not wear them twice!
YOUR RING
You're probably already used to wearing your engagement ring, but what about your wedding band? Do you want to look like a married woman in these photos? Don't forget the wedding band for detail shots like these.
OTHER WEDDING DAY DETAILS
Don't stop here! There's a few more details from your wedding that may be worth bringing to your bridal boudoir session.
Your wedding shoes
Your wedding dress
Your wedding day jewelry
Your vows or a notebook you may write them in
Your something blue
A "bride" or a "Mrs." item you have such as a mug or sweatshirt
Bouquet of flowers
SOMETHING OF HIS
Bringing something that belongs to your groom can be a flirty and sexy idea for your bridal boudoir session. His white button down dress shirt is a great oversized option to bring to your session. It's perfect to drape off your shoulder for a sultry look.
You could even bring his tie or his ring for some more creative photos.
DON'T FORGET YOUR OTHER OUTFITS!
You aren't limited to one outfit! You may not want every outfit to be a bridal look. Consider bringing something else as well. Bodysuits with cheeky bottoms are ideal for boudoir photography, but a bra or bralette and panty set is also a great option. What color do you look stunning in? Bring that! Change it up and give yourself some more options to chose from for your album.
You always have the option to get creative and bring in something a little different. If you're already bringing a bouquet of flowers, consider bringing a pair of denim. You can pair it with the flowers to strategically cover your chest.
