WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR ROSEWOOD BOUDOIR SESSION
When I had my first boudoir session back in 2017, I wasn't a professional photographer yet. I didn't know anything about boudoir photography, and I definitely didn't know what to expect from my boudoir session.
Even though my photos were lovely, I went into my session feeling a bit blind.
I didn't have any information about what to wear or what to expect and I think that made me more nervous than anything else. I definitely don't blame my photographer because I literally didn't even know what questions to ask before my boudoir session to help me feel prepared.
I don't want that for you. I want you to arrive feeling as comfortable as possible with the boudoir process and having a good idea of what is going to happen!
So without further ado, here is what you can expect from a boudoir session with Rosewood Boudoir!
BEFORE YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION
When you book your session, I'll send over a pre-session questionnaire for you to fill out. This helps me get to know you and understand your style just a bit better so that I can cater your session and posing to your specific taste.
I will guide you through how to prepare for your session.
In addition to my blog (which is chalk full of advice), I'll send you a few emails with all the information you need about what to wear and how to prepare for your session. These emails cover everything from what to look for in your lingerie pieces to whether or not you should get a spray tan before your session.
I'm always, always, always available to you if you have any questions about your session or want my opinion on a piece of lingerie before you purchase it!
I'm always in your corner. I promise, no question is a silly question!
I've accumulated a plethora of boudoir photography knowledge over the years and I'm more than happy to share it so you can just relax and have an easy and uplifting experience!
DURING YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION
The day of your session, you'll arrive with a clean face and clean, dry hair. You should also wear loose clothing (and consider foregoing a bra) so there aren't any clothing lines or divots on your skin when we start your session.
When you arrive, your hair and makeup artist will take excellent care of you. You can bring her some inspiration photos or you can just show up and say "Make me feel pretty!" and she'll take care of the rest.
Your boudoir session is all about YOU and you get to decide how much input you want into the hair and makeup process. Once you're thrilled with your look, we'll start the boudoir session portion of the day!
We'll head upstairs to my home studio space. There's even a little bathroom you can use to change outfits as well.
We'll go over the outfits you brought and decide what order we're going to photograph you in them. I usually start with a sweater, robe, or button down and work from the outfit with the most coverage to the outfit with the least amount of coverage. This helps ease you into the session and make you more comfortable to start off.
During the session itself, we'll chat, we'll laugh, and I will walk you through every step of posing so your images look amazing and you have a great time during your session!
Your session will last about 90 minutes and you will probably feel a bit sore afterwards. Many of the boudoir poses I'll walk you through involve muscles we don't use in our day to day lives! These poses may feel weird at times, but I promise you look great!
If I suggest anything you aren't comfortable with, you are always welcome to let me know and we'll move on. Your comfort is always my top priority.
After we're done shooting, if we haven't already, we'll schedule your boudoir reveal party day! This can be as soon as the very next day so you don't have to wait any longer than necessary.
AFTER YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION
As soon as the day after your session, you can come back for your boudoir reveal party! This is such a fun time where we celebrate you and you will make your purchase decisions.
First, we'll go through a slideshow of all your images and we'll ooh and ahh together over how gorgeous you look. We'll talk about what we love about the images or we'll just watch and smile together in happy silence.
I'm right there with you through whatever emotions you experience during this time. Some women stare in disbelief, some women tear up, some women giggle and smile. Just know that I've got tissues on hand if you need them!
Whatever you feel when seeing your photos for the first time is completely natural and ok. Boudoir is an emotional experience and I'll be there to support you every step of the way.
After that first wave of emotion subsides a little, we'll go through the gallery and you'll choose your favorite images.
I believe 20-40 of your absolute favorite images from your session beautifully arranged in a cohesive and luxurious boudoir photo album is infinitely more powerful than 150 images that are hiding on a flash drive somewhere at the bottom of your sock drawer. The albums I provide are stunning and very discrete. They'll be easy to store on a bookshelf or a bedside table.
We can talk about which album is right for you and make sure the images you select will flow beautifully in cohesive album spreads like this one!
I also have options for digital only packages and wall art packages. If you feel you absolutely have to have all the digitals there are options for you to purchase them all as well!
Once we've finalized your product selections, I'll send you an invoice. (If you set up a pre-payment plan when you booked your session, your credit will be applied to your purchase! )
Once it's paid, I'll fully edit your images and design an album proof over the next couple days. Once you approve it, I'll place the order!
After your boudoir session experience, you'll have a newfound sense of confidence in your own skin. You'll feel beautiful because you absolutely are.
Many women do boudoir sessions as a gift for their partner (which is a fabulous idea!), but the real power of boudoir is so much deeper than that. Boudoir allows you to explore facets of yourself you didn't know existed. It allows you to see yourself more clearly and to recognize that you are beautiful.
You may not think you're ready for a boudoir session yet, but I promise that you are. You are worth the investment right now - regardless of what the pesky voices in your head are telling you.
You are currently a walking, breathing, work of art and I can't wait to show you!
