3 THINGS NOT TO WEAR FOR YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION
Most women aren't doing a boudoir session every day. Their boudoir experience is a special occasion! You may not have experience in boudoir, but you definitely want to be as prepared as possible. Does that sound like you?
Knowing what to wear for your boudoir session is very important. On the flip side, knowing what things not to wear for your boudoir session is equally important.
At the end of the day, these are your photos and you can wear what you want. But if you want some guidance from a professional, you've come to the right place!
1. BABYDOLLS
The reason I don't recommend bringing a babydoll lingerie outfit to your boudoir session is that it doesn't do your body any favors in your photos.
For example, Ms. M looks beautiful in the babydoll and the bodysuit shown below. However, the babydoll piece is concealing her torso.
The unfortunate truth is that the flowy fabric of the babydoll can make her appear bigger in the torso than she actually is.
When she's in the bodysuit, the curves of her body are allowed to shine.
2. BOLD PRINTS
This is a good rule of thumb for photography in general. Don't choose an outfit with a print that is so distracting that it takes away from you as the subject.
If you want to add interest to your outfit, look for lace or textures rather than crazy patterns!
3. SOMETHING YOU DON'T LOVE
This may be the most important piece of advice I can give you! If you're trying on an outfit for your boudoir session and you don't love it, don't wear it!
Your session should feature you and your preferences. You should feel good about the outfits you're wearing.
Please don't choose an outfit for your session simply because you think you should be wearing it.
That being said, it's always a good idea to try things you may not have worn before if you like the look of them. Don't be afraid to stretch yourself to see what you love.
But if you've tried it and don't love it, don't wear it.
